Through surrealist abstraction, Harald Erath explores the Office theme of the 2026 edition of the Basel Social Club, by exposing the hidden fuel of the corporate machine.

Erath's Equinox series borrows its name from the moment when day and night are of equal length, much like the temporal disorientation induced by cocaine, where night and day become interchangeable. The paintings approach cocaine as a kind of modern religion, tracing its ritualistic seductions, communal highs, and the parallel universe that addiction builds in place of reality.
